Department of Physio-Occupational Therapy

Brief Introduction of Department

Physio-occupational therapy is located on the Ground floor of the Old Building Block.

The Physiotherapy department deals with the treatment of disease and disorders by physical means such as Exercise, Mobilization, Manipulation, Traction, Electricity, Magnetism, Heat, Light, Water, Ice, Ultrasound, etc. It not merely applies physical modalities but includes total client care i.e. evaluation, assessment, treatment, planning, application, and advice to our beneficiaries.

The occupational Therapy department utilizes treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of people with a physical, mental, or developmental disorder. The Occupational Therapy staff places a premium on achieving progress towards the client’s goals.

Physio-occupational therapy department provides OPD & IPD services to ESIC beneficiaries. OPD days of the wing are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM between 9 am to 4 pm.

Several beneficiaries visit the department daily with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders like back pain, neck pain, strains, and sprains. These people are provided with exercise protocols, education, handouts, splint and brace recommendations, and electrotherapeutic modalities.

The therapists deal with Musculoskeletal, Neuromuscular & Neurological, Cardiopulmonary, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, and all surgical conditions. Gait training and strength& endurance training are given importance in post-surgical patients.

 In the ICU, the therapists provide care to specific cases as per instructions. A comprehensive Stroke rehabilitation setup is also present in the dept. Pre-natal and post-natal exercises are taught under the guidance of the Obstetrics & Gynae Department.

The dept added a motorized treadmill for speedy rehabilitation and recovery of patients. Gait training, strength, and endurance training are given to post-surgical patients also.

A total of            Physio and Occupational Therapy treatments were carried out in the financial year.

The wing regularly participates in Health Check-up camps organized by the hospital. The department operates Cerebral palsy & Autism children as special clinics.

Timing:-           9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

                        9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Saturday)
